"We are each our own Devil, and we make this world our Hell"

Living with depression for most of my life has brought deep solace in the darker side of existing. The heaviness of sadness and despair can often feel overwhelming, as if suffocating with little to no escape. This is my own personal hell. But even in the depths of this hell, I continue to discover the beauty and magic in every experience. It is through seeing and acknowledging the darkness that I have learned to appreciate the yin and yang that can coexist within it.

This project is a representation of that personal Hell. A constant reminder that there is always beauty to be found even in the darkest places. Implementing a mixture of natural elements of flowers and skin tones, I used ominous imagery of melting faces and crawling hands to create this looping carousel of the battling playground I navigate in my own mind. When I learn to embrace my own hellscapes, I am able to create peace amidst the chaos. I embrace my demons and remember that I create my own heaven from the depths of my own hell.
